Dehydrated Apple Chips

Serves 4–6

These Dehydrated Apple Chips prove that great snacks don’t need a long ingredient list. Made using the Dehydrate function on the Cuisinart Air Crisp Pro, thinly sliced apples are gently dried to create crisp, naturally sweet chips with no added sugar.

Perfect for lunchboxes, grazing or an anytime snack, this simple recipe delivers big crunch with minimal effort — and shows just how versatile the Air Crisp Pro can be.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 apples (Pink Lady, Fuji, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1 lemon, juiced (optional)
  • Optional flavourings: ground cinnamon or mixed spice

Preparation

  1. Wash, core and slice apples very thinly (2-3mm thick). A mandoline gives the most even, crisp results. To prevent browning, toss apple slices in lemon juice and pat dry with paper towel.
  2. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon if desired. Do not add sugar, as it can cause sticking during dehydration.
  3. Place apple slices in a single layer on the air fryer basket or wire racks, ensuring slices do not overlap. Use multiple rack positions for larger batches.
  4. Select DEHYDRATE on the Air Crisp Pro and set temperature to 55°C.
  5. Dehydrate for 4–6 hours, rotating racks halfway through for even drying.
  6. Apple chips should be completely dry and crisp with no soft centres. If still pliable, continue dehydrating in 30-minute increments.
  7. Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
  8. Chips will crisp further as they cool.
  9. For ultra-crisp chips, extend time rather than increasing temperature.
  10. If chips soften during storage, return to Dehydrate for 30 minutes.
