What is Ice Hardened?
Cuisinart knives are ice hardened to improve stain resistance. Ice hardened knives utilise a propriety cryogenic hardening process that improves upon traditional heat treat processes. Unlike surface treatments that can wear away, cryogenics harden to the core by minimising soft metal and creating more hard metal resulting in a product that is more consistently hard throughout. In the process the temperature is reduced down to minus 80°C for 3 hours and then heated to 180°C for 4 hrs.
